Full Speed Ahead!

Or not! Okay...I haven't posted in quite sometime on this blog...but with a new job, moving, plus two new kitties....I've just been completely and down right busy! It's a lucky day that I get my personal blog updated let alone my craft one.

I do have some new projects that I have completed since the bridal and baby shower gifts, however; I need to take pictures of these projects and soon I'll have them posted.

Showers, Showers, Showers!

After a loonnnggg (and rather unwilling) break from scrapbooking and projects...I have risen again and come back to the paper and gluing world!

My husband and I went to a family reunion about a month ago. There, we held a little celebration for all the ladies who either recently married into the family or who were expecting.
There were three showers! My sister-in-law is expecting as well as a cousin's wife (twins!) and another cousin just recently was married.
I had some pint size, clear paint cans so I figured I could decorate them and put a gift card in each of them.
This one is the twins' paint can (obviously because there are two babies!)

I used Fiskars clear baby themed stamps. I had to do some masking in order to get the two babies on there as well as the wording. I had also cut fine strips of paper and curled and crimped them to make filler for the can.

For the bride, I bought a cookie jar, added cake mix, vanilla, walnuts, a wooden spoon, and a cookie recipe. I took the cake mix out of its box and packaged it my own way (it wouldn't fit in the jar so I had to improvise). I also decorated the recipe card.

A Card and a Layout

Here's a card I did for a sketch challenge on papercraftplanet.com.
I used foam tape to make the flowers 3 dimensional and a waterpen and ink pad to highlight the stem.

Close up of the sentiment.

And finally! Here is a layout. This is my most recent layout (all my others are in storage...it's so sad)!

I used a Close to My Heart paper pack. I also used the book Imagine (also a ctmh product). It is a recipe for a fail-proof layout!

It's hard to see in the picture, but I used light green eyelets on the tags as a slight accent towards my dress in the picture.
And there you have it! My first layout on my blog. There is more to come!

I'm Back!

It has been quite a while since I have posted. What with the move and job hunting (not to mention acting like my husband's personal secretary) I've just haven't had time to scrapbook!

To make matters worse....I realized I haven't even posted any layouts! How horrible is that...to have a scrapbook blog and not post any layouts!

I'm still in a transition phase so when I do get the spare time, I'll upload my masterpieces (or at least I like to think of them as my masterpieces)!

Another thing I was thinking about....pondering...and have concluded, I would like to do a couple of posts on how to effectively use your point and shoot camera in order to take pictures that appear to be semi-pro. These are the pics you can take without the the fancy spancy camera (I use a 2-3 year old Kodak easyshare).

I would really like to some day get Photoshop and learn to doctor my pictures, but as to my situation in life right now...I can't afford Photoshop so I have to do most of my doctoring before my picture takeing.

My pictures are not completely professional but I must say that I have learned quite a few things on how to make pictures look better when you take them (Thank you Humanities 101)!!!

Enough of the chit chat. I'll be back ASAP with photos and tips. Hopefully anyone out there (and if you are reading this blog...this means you!!!) will find my blog helpful.

Updating...

Okay...I haven't added anything for a while. My laptop (with all my pictures on it!) is temporary out of service at the moment (it is no biggie-just need to get the charger area fixed).

In other words I don't have any pictures of latest creations to add. Sadness! I'm also debating whether or not I should just post my things on a gallery. I think it would keep things more organized instead of cluttering up things here.

I'm also in the process of a move so it may be another long time before I post. But never fear! I'm still scrapbooking!

Makeover

Here's the scoop. My mom gave me this album when Sam and I moved back from Virginia. It is just a plastic print and I had kept it on hand waiting for the day that I would gain the courage to recover it. I held myself back because I did not have any idea what to use to adhere the paper to album cover. All I use usually is tape rollers and I knew that would not cut it at all!

The other day I found a scrapbook gel adhesive that was actually inexpensive (if you want details as to the brand just e-mail me).

This gel glue did just the trick and gave me the confidence to cover this album and make it something more my own.

I'm quite pleased with the outcome. The album before was okay but it just did not appeal to me. After recovering it I feel like I have taken down a barrier and can now confidently fill it with my pages.

Cards

Along with scrapbooking, I love to make cards. These cards were made using Close to My Heart stamps. I have made these cards just in the past couple of days.
